"Private Punt was principal interpreter for III Branch, later II Branch, in Burma and Siam.
He was called upon at all hours day and night for this task, acting as intermediary between unfortunate prisoners of war in trouble with savage brutal guards. Often his strenuous efforts to protect these diverted the storm on his own head. He excercised amazing tact and diplomacy in placating these guards and was invaluable n difficult negotiation conducted by Senior Officers with Japanese officials."
