"This officer was appointed to the Cdo as a subaltern in April 44. Although his previous experience had been in technical appointments and he was rather old for a Cdo subaltern, he faced up to his new work with admirable spirit and determination; supervising his troop in the line, carrying out patrols and leading in action with willingness and courage. When preparing for the Walcheren operation he was paced in charge of the amphibious trg and was responsible for organising and running the successful trg of all the weasel dvrs in 4 Cdo Bde and attached troops for that operation.
During the operation he took over the duties of adm offr when his predecessor was mortally wounded and carried out these duties with devotion and courage under hevay shellfire. On return he set about the re-equipment of the unit with great drive and has spared himself no trouble in re-establishing the administation of the unit on a sound basis.
In undertaking whatever duty came his way, whether dangerous or routine, this officer has shown high qualities of bravery, conscientiousness and self-sacrifice, and has won the respect of all ranks."
