"Lieutenant Mathias Rivière worked in Resistance from the earliest days. He assisted in finding grounds, organising reception committees, and transporting arms and wireless material dropped by parachute. He was also responsible for sheltering young men avoiding forced labour in Germany.
Later Lieutenant Rivière took over a ground in the R? area which received seven aircraft, and he successfully distributed the arms in spite of intense enemy activity taking place in the area at that time."
