"Lieut. Goffin was parachuted into Belgium on 22 May 43 as wireless operator to a sabotage mission in the Scoret Army Zone V.

All the arrangements with London for the air reception of sabotage stores were made through Goffin, who successfully maintained communication from July to September 1943 when he returned to the U.K. as the group was compromised and in danger of extinction. His techincal skill, courage and sense of security largely contributed to the success of the mission.

This officer volunteered for a second mission and on 12th June 1944 was sent to the south of France vi Spain as W/T operator to an organiser of an escape organisation.

On his first attempt to cross the Pyrenees he was arrested by the Spansh and imprisoned for a fortnight but was released through the intervention of the British consulate in Barcelona.

He made another attempt a month later and crossed into France via Andorra. He acted as W/T operator in Tarbes up to 21 Oct. 44 when he was recalled to this country. Before he left, however, he had trained a local recruit up to a high pitch of efficiency.

For his courage and determination it is recommeneded that Lt. Goffin be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (Mil.)"
