Biography

Augusto Bruschi was born a son of an Italian mason, who emigrated to Corsica in Frasseto.

Italians, the five Bruschi brothers joined the Foreign Legion. Augusto signed in in Ajaccio on September 2, 1938.

Enlisted in the 13e Demi-Brigade de Marche de la Légion Etrangère (13e DBMLE), he took part in the battles of Bjervik and Narvik in Norway.

Evacuated with his unit to Britain in June 1940, he chose to enlist in the Free French Forces on July 1, 1940.

Participating in Operation "Threat" to rally French Western African troops to Free French troops in late September 1940, he was then enlisted with the 13e Demi-Brigade de la Légion Etrangère (13e DBLE).

He took part in operations in Eritrea with the "Brigade française d'Orient" engaged against fascist's italian troops.

Augusto Bruschi was killed in action on March 14, 1941 in the attacks to cut off the Keren-Asmara railway in Eritrea.
