Biography

Dudley Whitman was a "Hump Pilot" who gave millions to Emory Riddle.

He started flying J-3 Cubs out of the Gainesville airport and subsequently enrolled into Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP) flight school in Miami. In 1940 Whitman transferred to Embry Riddle, where he received further flight training and advanced training as well. Whitman joined the Air Corps in 1943 and was sent to Reno to train with C-46s (in preparation for mission over the "Hump"). Whitman flew in Asia in the period 1943-1945. After the war, Whitman made underwater films for Paramount and Warner Bros.
