Biography

Edwin was born on May 12 1923 in Chatham Ontario, the son of Albert Love (English) and Grace Edith Love nee Cape of Tilbury Ontario. They were married on June 11 1921 in Chatham. His brother was Douglas Bruce Love and the other one Raymond Royer Love died during the infancy in 1928 age one and his sister was Patricia Olive Grace Love.

He was a student and member of the Anglican Church and his sports were tennis, skating and swimming.

He enlisted on April 23 1942 in London Ontario and he went thereafter on October 12 1943 from New York USA overseas to the UK.

Edwin was killed in action on Saturday November 4 1944 age 21 due to a crash near Siersdorf-Setterich in Germany before or after an attack on Bochum in Germany. He was temporarily buried on January 30 1945 then at The American Cemetery in Margraten before being reburied on November 26 1946 in Venray. His other missed RCAF crew members and therefore at the Runnymede Memorial in England were F/O Keith B. Brooks age 22 at panel 245, F/Sgt Keith C. Collins age 20 at panel 254 and F/Sgt Norman F. Jodrell age 19 at panel 255. The other missed RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members also are at this Memorial: Sgt George F. Harding age 20 at panel 230 and F/Sgt Christmas D. Evans age 34 at panel 217. And the RCAF crew member F/Sgt A.J. Roach survived the crash and became then a prisoner of war and he survived the war.

On his headstone: "TO THIS END WAS I BORN,... THAT I SHOULD BEAR WITNESS UNTO THE TRUTH." ST.JOHN XVIII.37
