Operation Vittles
"Signaller II Frost has completed 126 sorties on the Berlin air lift in a cheerful and efficient manner. He is an excellent crew member who has recently shown his ability and enthusiasm for flying to be outstanding. He is always ready to fly and to carry out duties in excess of those normally required during this operation. By taking an extremely active interest in the duties of his fellow crew members he has, on two occasions, been in a position to inform his captain that he considered the aircraft to be overloaded. A subsequent full check of the aircraft load disclosed that it was so. It is considered that the diligence of Signaller II Frost in carrying out checks not included in his normal duties directly resulted in these two sorties being completed without incident. Signaller II Frost has given a fine example of keenness, cheerful determination and quiet in the execution of his duties as a signaller in a York while engaged in the airlift into Berlin. Further qualities which he has displayed to a marked degree are his willingness to volunteer at all times to undertake extra sorties, and a meticulous attention not only to his own immediate task, but also to the general airworthiness and flying condition of his aircraft. His example has inspired confidence in the other members of his crew and has secured the success of the missions which he has completed. Moreover, his vigilance has demanded a rigorous standard from the servicing and loading teams. He has thus contributed directly to the maintenance of the efficiency of the ground crews responsible for the airlift while carrying out so successfully his own task. He has shown devotion to duty of a high order."
