Biography

Ray was born on August 23 1919 in Edmonton, the son of Harold Thomas Logan and Adorene Logan nee Hutchings of Edmonton. They were married in 1917 in Edmonton. He was married on February 26 1942 in Winnipeg with Margaret Hays Logan nee Keenan of Winnipeg. Margaret remarried later as Mrs. Ballentine. His brother was John Logan and his sister was Mrs. Joyce Nicholls.

He was a bank clerk and member of the Baptist Church. His hobbies were photography and telegraphy and his sports were skating, baseball, tennis and all summer outdoor sports.

He served from 1935 till 1938 with the No 13 NRMA Clearing Depot of the Non-Permanent Active Militia of Canada and he enlisted on May 26 1941 then the RCAF in Edmonton and he went on May 12 1942 thereafter overseas to the UK.

Ray was killed in action on Friday May 28 1943 age 23 due to a crash near Bleskensgraaf en Hofwegen after an attack on Essen in Germany. The other RCAF crew member F/Sgt C.K. Chrysler survived the crash and he became then a prisoner of war and survived the war.

His name is at a monument in Bleskensgraaf.

He served with the 109 (R.A.F.) Squadron Royal Canadian Air Force.
