Biography

During a reconnaissance mission of F Company and after crossing the River De Waal on 10 March 1945, Lieutenant James Philip Sedgwick of Whixley Yorkshire (24 years old) was fatally shot by enemy fire.

His body was out of necessity left behind and he was first buried in a temporary field grave and was later reburied at the Zoelen General Cemetery.
