    "During September, 1944 to April, 1945, two major airborne operations have been mounted by First Allied Airborne Army in which the 1st and 6th British Airborne Divisions have played a prominent part. In addition 6th British Airborne Division was dispatched at short notice into the ARDENNES battle. The preliminary arrangements for its movements being made by HQ, First Allied Airborne Army.

    It has been largely due to General Parks devotion to duty, skill, tireless energy and tact that these combined operations have so successfully been launched. His personal conduct as well as his breadth of vision have been a constant inspiration to all who have served with him and under him."
