Biography

After the war he studied economics (Dipl. Economist) and joined the Federal Border Police in 1951 and switched to the newly formed Bundeswehr in 1956. His last rank was lieutenant colonel. He was married to Kunigunde Kimberger, née Kramer, and had 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters. Of his sons, 4 were committed as long-term soldiers at the Bw while he was still active as a career officer.
