Biography

Joseph was born on February 17 1918 in Montreal, the son of Percy Nathanial Jacobson and May Naomi Jacobson nee Silver of Westmount Quebec. He had two sisters and one brother was already deceased earlier.

He obtained on May 25 1939 the Bachelor of Commerce at the McGill University in Montreal.

He was a department manager office equipment Co. of Canada Ltd. and he had the Jewish religion. He spoke English and French well. His hobbies were music, woodworking and repair and photography. His sports were riflery horseback riding and instructor, skating, football, hockey, tennis, basketball, baseball, handball, sailing, skiing, swimming and rifle shooting.

He enlisted on July 1 1940 in Montreal and he went thereafter on May 1 1941 from Canada overseas to the UK

Joseph was killed in action on Wednesday January 28 1942 age 23, just 19 days before his 24th birthday due to a crash at Lievelde - Besselinkschans, 10 km northwest of Winterswijk before or after an attack on Münster in Germany. The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were P/O Robert V. Selfe age 26 in grave 19-21, Sgt Duncan E. Hodgkinson age 25 in grave 19-21 and Sgt Sidney G. Harding age 22 in grave 22.

He served with the 106 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
