US Mark XIV Torpedo

This American Mark XIV torpedo is on display at the USNA. This type of torpedo was used in the Second World War and notorious for frequent malfunctions.

This torpedo is also a memorial for the 427 crewmembers who died in submarine disasters, between 1900 and 1975.
