Memorial Battle of Crete

The Battle of Crete took place from May 20 to 31, 1941 and was a German victory. The monument commemorates the victims on the Greek, British, Australian and New Zealand sides.

The text on the pillar reads:

To her dead children and to her allies, the British, Australians and New Zealanders, after the Greeks fought bravely in the battle of Crete of May 20-21, 1941 and sacrificed themselves in the common struggle for the common freedom of the world and Greece
