Colonel Edward D. Baker Monument

This memorial commemorates Colonel Edward D. Baker, 71 Pennsylvania Infantry, who was killed on this spot in the Battle of Ball's Bluff.
The Battle of Ball's Bluff took place on 21 October 1861. This battle is also known as the Battle of Harrison’s Island or the Battle of Leesburg. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory.
