Davis Bridge Battlefield

On this location was the bridge, where on and around most Union soldiers were killed during the Battle of Davis Bridge.

The Battle of Davis Bridge (also known as Hatchie’s Bridge) took place on 5 October 1862 when Confederate forces wanted to use the bridge to cross Hatchie River. The battle resulted in a Union victory. The Union lost about 500 men (dead, wounded, missing or captured), the Confederates about 400 men.
