Fort Reno POW-cemetery

During the Second World War, Fort Reno contains a prisoner-of-war camp for about 1,300 German POWs. Next to the old Post Cemetery of the fort, a cemetery was added for deceased POWs from this camp and camps elsewhere in Oklahoma and Texas. There are 62 German and 8 Italian graves on the Cemetery.

The most famous German buried at the cemetery is Johannes Kunze of the Tonkawa Camp. He was killed by fellow POWs who accused him of being a traitor.
