Crash Site Vickers Wellington B Mark X

This Canadian Vickers Wellington X HE593 AL- (429 Sqn.) crashed along the Heisteeg at Zijtaart on 12 June 1943. Fout crew members were killed. The pilot, F/O Robert Fitzgerald Conroy, survived.

Operation: Düsseldorf. Take off 23.00 East Moor, North Yorkshire, Engeland..
Outbound, and while climbing towards 19.000 feet, shot down by a night-fighter (claim by Ofw. Bruno Eikmeier, 2./NJG1) and crashed 01.15 at Heisteeg, Zijtaart (Veghel).
Three are buried in Eindhoven (Woensel) General Cemetery and Sgt. Burns RCAF is buried in Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery.
