Memorial Police Station Leeuwarden

The monument in the police station in Leeuwarden is a framed collage of three photographs and text. Central is the photo of Hendrik van der Galiën. Above are two photos of a commemoration meeting.

As an illegal worker, he made himself creditable by issuing and forging identity cards and allowing Jews to go into hiding and care.

Arrested on 19 July 1944 in leeuwarden.
Shot on August 18, 1944 in Vught.

The monument was previously in the former police station at the Holstmeerweg, but now hangs in the Frisian Resistance Museum in Leeuwarden.
