Battery Putnam

Battery Putnam was a part of Fort Worden, which was part of the harbor defense of Puget Sound and was built from 1903 to 1906. The battery was operational until 1946. It was equipped with twee 3" guns. During the Second World War, most of the gun emplacements of Fort Worden were modified for anti aircraft guns, which replaced the outdated coastal artillery pieces.

Nowadays the battery is part of the Fort Worden State Park and can be visited.
