This memorial located near the World War II monument and museum, commemorates those who fought for the liberation of Saint-Malo during World War II.
The text on the lower plaque reads:
'En hommage aux combatantts des Armees Alliees et des Forces Francaises de la Resistance dont la lutte et la sacrafices ont jalonné la route de la liberation de la Saint-Mailo' (In tribute to the soldiers of the Allied armies and the French Resistance fighters whose struggle and sacrifices paved the way for the liberation of Saint-Mailo)
The upper plaque, added later, bears the inscription:
“In memory of the American soldiers of the 329th 'Buckshot” Infantry Regiment who died during the capture of this fort in August 1944' (In memory of the American soldiers of the 329th “Buckshot” Infantry Regiment who died during the capture of this fort in August 1944) contains the names of the 40 American soldiers who died in the process.
