Belgian War Grave Oreye

The cemetery of Oreye contains one Belgian burial of the First World War. That of GUFFENS Jean Georges, died at Banholt (Netherlands) on 17 November 1918.

After the fall of Antwerp (10.10.1914), the man fled to the Netherlands, where he was interned in Amersfoort and Assen, among others. At the end of the war he lived in Mheer-Banholt, where he died of the Spanish flu shortly after the Armistice. Received the statute of slain because he died while in military service.
