Belgian War Grave Overboelare

The cemetery of Overboelare contains the grave of a fallen of the Second World War. That of PYCKE Cyriel, fallen at Zomergem on 24 May 1940.

Soldier PIJCKE/PYCKE Cyriel Polidoor was the son of René PYCKE and Magdalena DE NEVE.
He was born on August 10, 1919 in Deftinge (Lierde) and was assigned to the 2nd Line, 1st Battery, 4th Company with number 102/93843. He was killed during the Eighteen Days Campaign by shrapnel from a falling bomb. He was transferred to the Overboelare cemetery (then his and his parents' residence) on 7 June 1940.
