Memorial American War Pilots
Memorial to commemorate two American pilots who crashed their P-51 Mustang fighter plane at Zandbergen on 31 May 1944, where two aircraft probably collided with each other due to bad weather.
First Lieutenant Robert Homuth did not survive the crash and is buried in the American cemetery in Neuville-en-Condroz, Captain Carroll McElroy survived the crash but was captured by the Germans in Zandbergen.
