Eire 64 Downpatrick Head

Ireland erected a number of lookout posts along the coast to monitor for belligerent activity. It was later decided to add large signs identifying the coast as EIRE as a way to reduce the number of aircraft landing because their crews had become lost.

This is EIRE 64 at Downpatrick Head in County Mayo.
