Bunker Remnants Cecina

Remains of what once were more than a dozen bunkers. They were built along the coast by the German army in the spring of 1944 during the German occupation. Italian citizens were forced to participate in the construction. Originally intended for defending against an Allied invasion from sea, the bunkers were used against the 34th American infantry division, which attacked on land from the south on 29 June 1944.
