Preveli International Memorial for Resistance and Peace

This memorial commemorates the Battle of Crete in 1941 and the civilian men and women, the Cretan Militia and servicemen of the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand who gave their lives.

The memorial is composed by two sculptures and a remembrance stone engraved with the flags of Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Greece. The first sculpture shows the armed Abbot of the Preveli Monastery on 1941 Agathangelos Lagouvardos and the second a soldier of the Allied forces.
