Kakakog (Kakakogwith)

Kakakog is a crest line overlooking Scarlet Beach, Bumi River and Finschhafen. It was defended by the Japanese Navy Special Landing Force, blocking the advance of 2/16 Battalion. The fortified area witnessed heavy fighting, where bayonets and hand grenades were used on a large scale. The Japanese finally withdrew from Kakakog on 2 October 1943.
