Polish War Grave Lombardsijde
Among the commonwealth burials at Lombardsijde Churchyard is the grave of a Polish airman of the Second World War. That of Major Lapkowski Waclaw of the 303 Sqdn. Polish Air Force. He was shot down with his Spitfire Mk II B/8596 on 2 July 1941 by a German night fighter during escorting bombers to Lille (France).
