Aqaba fort

The Aqaba castle (Qalʿat al-ʿAqaba) was originally a fortress from the 12th century. The fort is said to have been built by the Crusaders. The fort was completely rebuilt in the 16th century.
In July 1916 the Turkish army was conquered here by cooperating Arab tribes with the help of Lawrence of Arabia (T.E. Lawrence).
