National Memorial of Solidarity Luxembourg

Opened in 1971, this stark monument is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Second World War. The paved interior suggests the concentration camps, prisons and barracks where Luxembourg people suffered. A small chapel contains a symbolic tombstone representing the victims of the war and an eternal flame burns in front of it. The chapel`s walls of stained glass are the work of Luxembourg artist Francois Gillen.
