Iwo Jima - Bloody Gorge ("Death Valley")
On 11 March 1945, General Kuribayashi and 1500 of his men made their last stand here. The fighting for the Bloody Gorge lasted until 23 March 1945, when it was fully captured by U.S. Marines.
