Information Sign Relief to Brookeville

In the night of 26 August 1814, the British Army attacked Washington DC and burned the government buildings. President James Madison escaped the fighting and stayed in this house in Brookeville in the short time that Washington DC was occupied by British troops. Many other residents of the city also fled to Brookeville.
