Monument General da Silveira

Monument inaugurated on March 25, 2009 by Pr. Dr. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, President of Portugal, to commemorate the bi-centenary of the recapture of the fortified town of Chaves by the Portuguese forces led by General Francisco da Silveira (1763 – 1821) after a 4-day siege, thus freeing the town from the French troops and preparing the end of Portugal's second invasion by the napoléonic régime.
