Memorial Stone Fallen British and Scottish Soldiers

In the days of September 1944 five British and Scottish soldiers were ambushed on this very spot at Sas 6.
They were shot and ruthlessly killed by German machinegun fire out of the farm from the other side of the channel.

The five fallen soldiers served in the 2nd battalion Gordon Highlanders:
Lieutenant (commander) Brownlee-Lamont, W.W.N. (30 years)
Lance Corporal Philip, W. (27 years)
Corporal Walker, G.
Private Graham, SW. (19 years)
Private Mattheus, G. (35 years)

In 1945 they all got their last resting place on the military cemetery in Kasterlee (Kasterlee War Cementary).
