Railway Tunnel Dombås

On April 21, 1940, Dombås was bombed by the Luftwaffe. Captain Robert Losey, who happened to be in Dombås at the time, took shelter in the railway tunnel. A bomb exploded at the entrance to the tunnel and Losey was struck in the heart. He would go down in the history books as the first American soldier to be killed in World War II. n addition to Losey, five Norwegians were killed by the bomb, and 18 wounded.
