Info board 75 Years Liberation WWII Dessel

In 2019 it was 75 years ago that Belgium was Liberated by the Allied forces.
In this context, Tourism Province of Antwerp organized various activities related to the Liberation in collaboration with Liberation Route Europe. Together with the participating cities and municipalities, a themed brochure with local stories supplemented with photos was made. Information boards were placed at 48 historical locations, each with a local theme.

Theme Dessel: Ten days in hiding

In September 1944 Dessel lies between the British and the Germans' firing field for the battle on the canal. Several houses are damaged and residents are injured. There are also two deaths. The inhabitants were forced to spend several days in air raid shelters.
