St. Lawrence Cemetery contains the grave of the Belgian soldier:

"THE MARTELAERE
Victor-J.
Soldier
2nd carabiners regiment.
Born in Massemen
on July 18, 1882
Died for Belgium
on December 4, 1914 ", below that image of 2 decorations.

Info board: "The Belgian soldier
During the First World War, Norton Hall near Mickleton was opened as a hospital for wounded soldiers. Among the patients were a few Belgian men. One of them, Victor Joseph De Martelaere, died and was buried in St. Lawrence Church in Mickleton where his grave can still be seen. Another Belgian man, it is believed, arrived at Baker's Hill Wood where he carved the outline of a Belgian soldier in a tree. Although the inscription on his kepi is largely obscure, it appears as if there are two initials followed by his name and the date 1917. "
