Travis Air Force Base (Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Base)

Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Base, commissioned in 1942, was under the command of Air Transport Command from October 1942. The base was renamed Travis Air Force Base in 1951 for Brigadier General Robert F. Travis, who was killed in an air accident on 5 August 1950.
