World War II Cemetery Cum Botanical Garden

This war cemetery contains 833 war graves (including mass graves) from the Second World War. A wide range of nationalities (Taiwanese, Chinese, Americans, Kachin and Indians) were involved in the construction of the Ledo Road. Many of them died due to disease, malnutrition, fatigue or a combination of all these factors. The cemetery was rediscovered in 1997. It is estimated that more than 1000 war victims are buried here.

The graves are in a bad shape and many without epitaph (an exception is the grave of Major Hsiao Chu Ching), but the botanic garden built around the cemetery is beautiful.
