Musée historique de la Seconde Guerre mondiale d'Ambleteuse

The Musée 39-45 in Ambleteuse is a World War II museum covering the conflict from 1939 to 1945. Spread over 800 m², it features more than 120 life-sized mannequins in authentic uniforms, thousands of original artifacts, and larger items like vehicles and artillery. Exhibits are arranged chronologically, from the outbreak of war to the final surrender, with immersive dioramas recreating battle scenes and daily life. A highlight is a reconstructed 1940s cinema showing archival footage of the Normandy landings and the Liberation of Paris. Located on the Channel coast, near former Atlantic Wall defenses, the museum serves both as a memorial and an educational center for understanding the war’s impact on the region.
