German War Grave Thalfang

On March 17, 1945, the retreating German troops above the Erbeskopf were suddenly attacked by American fighter-bombers. Sergeant Alfred Brodkorb, 32, has died and is buried on the spot next to the road.

A couple from Deuselbach cared for the grave for years.

The widow of the deceased man also did not want to be reburied.

In 2004 the tomb was redesigned by another private initiative and fitted with a large information board.
