Memorial Otto Neururer

In the Austrian town of Götzens in Tyrol, a monument to Otto Neururer stands in front of the local church. The monument is depicted as a tombstone. A large stone with a bronze engraving on it, including the name, the text "Martyr" and the date and place of birth and death, in this case the Buchenwald concentration camp.

Otto Neururer was an Austrian Roman Catholic priest and was the first priest to die in a Nazi concentration camp. Neururer studied for the priesthood in Brixen before serving as a teacher and pastor in several towns before settling in Götzens near Innsbruck in 1932.
