Monument Platform Covering with Shelling Damage

In Schwerte, a historic part of a platform roof with traces of shelling has been preserved. The steel frame was part of the roof between platforms 5 and 6 of the Schwerte train station. The damage was caused by shelling from aircraft weapons during one of the many Allied attacks on the station and shunting yard.

The platform roof was renewed in 2018, but the Eisenbahnfreunde Schwerte managed to preserve and conserve this part. Thanks to the support of many individuals and companies, it could be set up on the square in front of the station in August 2021. Now it is a monument to the railways in Schwerte and the futility of war.
