Memorial Agira

On te Piazza F. Fedele opposite the Italian war memorial is a plaque commemorating the 1st Canadian Infantry Division. The 1st Canadian Infantry Division's were nicknamed the "Red Patch Devils" by their German opponents.

During the liberation of Agira on the 28th of July 1943 the town was the scene of heavy fights between the Germans and Canadians.
