Memorial Byng Boys Givenchy-en-Gohelle
On 9 April 1917 at 5h30 a cannon shot was fired. This is the signal for the attack by four Canadian divisions that are united for the first time. They attack under the command of General BYNG on a four-mile front. After terrible battles, the ridge of Vimy is conquered.
At the end of the battle, 10.602 BYNG BOYS had been killed, wounded or missing.
Canadian soldiers chose this name in honour of their general.
