Belgian War Grave Zeveneken

Opposite the St. Eligius Church in Zeveneken is the grave of the children DE KNIJF Marcel and Lisette, war victims.
They died, along with 15 other Zeveneken victims in the German bombardment of Zeveneken on May 10, 1940.
The bombs were intended to stop French troops advancing eastwards along the Antwerpsesteenweg.
Little Lisette died in Zeveneken, the boy Marcel was transferred to Ghent but died on arrival at the hospital.
