Citadel Bitche

Citadel on the hills of the Northern Vosges in the town of Bitche. Built by Vauban and Cormontaigne between 1680 and 1754. The castle is a unique building and modern for its time. There was a famous siege here during the Franco-Prussian War. The museum 'The Man in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870' provides a realistic view of this war through archive images and soldiers' experience stories.
