Villa Insulinde

This villa, built in 1917, was requisitioned by the Germans to house a news service: de Berichtendienst Nederlandschen Omroep, that took over from the Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau ANP.
When the Germans started with the Atlantikwall and large parts of the Dutch coast were evacuated, this service moved to Hilversum. In the villa then the Gewestelijk Evacuatiebureau Zuid-Holland (labour office) was housed, which was responsible for the regional housing of people who were evacuated because of the construction of the defense works.
After the liberation this same organisation worked on the return of evacuees but under a new name: Provinciaal Bureau Verzorging Oorlogsslachtoffers.
